In-Product Domain Recovery for Expired Domains

🆕 What's New?

Users can now recover expired domains directly inside the product during the 41–70 day redemption window, without needing help from support.

The standard renewal popup has also been extended through day 40, and domains in the redemption period now use a dedicated Recover Your Domain flow that handles fee calculation, payment, and recovery in one place.

⚙️ How It Works

  • When a user opens Domain Settings and clicks Recover for an expired domain, the system checks the domain status in real time and routes them to the correct flow automatically.

  • Day 1–40 (Grace Period)

    – Users see the standard Renew popup and pay the normal renewal fee. The renewal window has been extended from 28 days to 40 days.

  • Day 41–70 (Redemption Period)

    – Users see a Recover Your Domain modal that includes both the renewal fee and the registry redemption fee as part of the recovery flow. Payment and recovery happen directly in-product.

  • If the zone is inactive

    – Users are shown a Contact Support modal instead.

  • After the recovery window ends

    – If the domain has passed day 70 or the zone has already been deleted, recovery is no longer available in-product and the domain is moved to External.

🎯 Why It Matters

  • Reduces the need for support tickets for domain recovery

  • Gives users a clear self-serve path to recover domains during the redemption window

  • Helps prevent churn by making domain recovery easier at a critical point

  • Keeps domain lifecycle management inside the product instead of routing users elsewhere

📌 Important Notes

  • The standard renewal grace period has been extended from 28 days to 40 days

  • All expiry logic runs on UTC

  • Redemption fees are charged at the fixed registry rate, with no HighLevel or agency markup

  • Auto-recharge is disabled during recovery to prevent partial payment issues

  • Some TLDs, including .co and .uk, may still require support help if the zone has already been deleted

  • No setup is required — the correct recovery flow appears automatically based on the domain’s current status

URL Redirect UI/UX Revamp!

🆕 What's New?

We’ve launched a revamped URL Redirect interface with an improved, intuitive user experience, making it easier to set up and manage 301 redirects. This update also introduces support for full domain-level redirects to external domains not connected to your account.

⚙️ How it Works?

  1. Refreshed UI: Users can now select a source domain and choose to redirect either a Specific Path or the Entire Domain using a clean, guided popup interface.

  2. Smart Target Options: For Entire Domain redirects, users can now

    1. Choose from existing connected domains.

    2. Or select Custom Domain, allowing redirection to an external domain not previously connected.

    3. Upon selecting Custom Domain, a new field appears to input a valid domain or subdomain (e.g., example.com or sub.example.com). Paths like /about are not accepted.

  3. Target Destination Options: Redirects can point to

    1. Custom URL (for specific paths)

    2. Funnel Step

    3. Website Page

  4. Live Previews: Dynamic previews help users understand how their redirect will behave.

  5. Edit Flow: After creation, only the target values can be edited—source configuration is locked to prevent accidental changes.

  6. Validation & Error Handling: Inline validations catch invalid URLs, duplicate redirects, and unsupported formats in real-time.

🎯 Why it Matters?

Teams now have the flexibility to redirect entire domains to external destinations without needing to add them to the platform. The improved flow, live previews, and smart defaults reduce errors and confusion, while the streamlined setup saves time and removes the need for developer involvement.

📌 Important Notes

All existing redirects will continue to work as they do today. This update is available to all accounts by default and does not require any manual enablement.

Refreshed Domains Page!

The Domains page has been updated to make purchasing a new domain or transferring an existing (external) domain clearer and more compelling. A new value-proposition panel highlights benefits such as simpler management, stronger security, and transparent pricing, with direct calls-to-action for domain purchase and transfer.

⚙️ How It Works

  • No domains: A “get started” panel explains the benefits and provides one-click options to purchase or transfer-in.

  • Only external domains: A dedicated section highlights the advantages of consolidation, with clear CTAs to purchase or transfer-in.

  • Both internal and external domains: A transfer-in banner appears alongside external domains to encourage consolidation.

  • Only internal domains: No banners are displayed; the setup remains unchanged.

  • Manual option: Connect a Domain remains available for those who prefer manual setup.

💡 Why It Matters

  • Faster decisions: Clear messaging and streamlined CTAs reduce friction.

  • Better outcomes: Consolidating domains improves reliability, security, and manageability.

  • Higher visibility: Users with external domains see exactly why and how to consolidate.

📌 Important Notes

  • Availability depends on account permissions. If purchasing or transfer-in is not enabled, the appropriate enablement flow will be prompted.

  • These updates are UI and communication improvements only. Existing domain connections remain unaffected.
